  • Dose

    200 mg once daily of ‘immediate-release’ preparation for first 14 days then (if no rash present) 200 mg twice daily of ‘immediate-release’ preparation or 400 mg once daily of modified-release preparation

    Rash including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis , nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, hepatitis , hypersensitivity reactions

    use with caution in moderate impairment and avoid in severe impairment

    Nevirapine is assigned to the FDA Pregnancy Category B, safe in pregnancy

    avoid initiating treatment in treatment niave  women with CD4 cell count greater than 250 cells/mm3 or in men with CD4 cell count greater than 400 cells/mm3
