    Second line treatmnet for DMAC Oral 400 mg daily

  • Side Effects

    Common side-effects include headache, dizziness, QT prolongation in patients with hypokalaemia, Nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal and abdominal pains, diarrhoea, increase in transaminases

  • Interactions

    See under ciprofloxacin;

    May prolong QT interval with the following drugs, which are contraindicated: antiarrhythmics (e.g. quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, neuroleptics (e.g. phenothiazines, pimozide, sertindole, haloperidol, sultopride), tricyclic antidepressants, certain antimicrobials (erythromycin IV, pentamidine, antimalarials particularly halofantrine), certain antihistaminics (terfenadine, astemizole,), others (cisapride) Check SmPC for full information

    May affect INR in patients receiving warfarin
